Wonderware Mobile Solutions

j5 is the Operations Management System of choice in the Industrial Work Place, providing over 50 Industrial Applications directly to standard browsers like Internet Explorer. Intelatrac is the leading mobile data collection and field management system in the Industrial Workplace. This document describes the functionality and benefits of combining these two powerful systems.

Overview

 A high proportion of all information on a site is not available via the SCADA system. In fact on average, up to 40% of all information can only be collected via the field operators with clip boards or more recently with mobile handsets.
Intelatrac Systems provide an effective framework for the management and collection of field data using mobile devices. (Explosion Proof devices are supported.)
j5 extends the functionality of this Intelatrac information by:

• Integrating the Intelatrac Information into a Standard Off-The-Shelf database like Oracle, or MS SQL server.
• Delivering the Intelatrac information to an Easy-To-Use Web based GUI Portal that is available on every PC in the network.
• Integrating the Information with other sources of information like operator logs and information from the DCS, SCADA, MES, MRP and ERP systems.
• Providing a reporting framework so that the integrated data can be efficiently sent via emails in pdf or xls form to any nominated stakeholder in the organization.

System Architecture

The diagram on the right shows the major elements in the integration of the Intelatrac System to j5.
In particular the j5 system:

• Automatically uploads all the configuration information and data structures (including procedures, functions etc.) from the Intelatrac System.
• Uploads (periodically or on-demand) the mobile information together with the time stamps into the j5 database.
• Integrates the Intelatrac data with information from other data sources into logbooks, handovers and other applications.
• Delivers scheduled (or on-demand) reports that are sent via email to the interested parties.
• Provides a means of delivering Operator Orders and Instructions to the field devices.

j5 Integration Module Activation and Start-Up 

The j5 system comes standard with the Intelatrac Module Resource. The resource is activated via the configuration GUI and the connection from j5 to Intelatrac is set up by simply pointing the j5 system to the Intelatrac Web Service.

Once connected, the j5 system uploads all the Intelatrac configuration and immediately begins collecting data. The data can be collected when (for example) an inspection round is complete or on a scheduled basis or on demand.

The Intelatrac Resource is accessible from any of the 50+ applications in the j5 Applications Suite. This suite comprises Logbooks, Handovers, Shift Reports, Shutdown Logs, Incident Logs, Order Books and many others.

Additionally, the Intelatrac Resource is accessible to the j5 Development System which provides simple scripting of functions to carry out (for example) Work Flow Management, Custom Reports etc.

Standard Intelatrac Reports 

The j5 Integration Module comes with a number of standard Intelatrac Reports to support the base functionality. These include:

• Intelatrac Procedure Manager and Procedure Detail Screens
• Intelatrac Overdue Tasks Reports
• Intelatrac Overdue Calendar
• Intelatrac Virtual Logs and
• Many Others

All reports can be saved as pdf documents or spreadsheets and can be emailed to interested recipients.

Integration with Standard Applications

Intelatrac Information can be connected to any of the 50+ Applications in the j5 Portfolio. For example, logs of information can be made to automatically appear in the j5 Logbook or Shift Handover Logs.

Additionally, rich context information from other data sources like PI or Wonderware can appear in the same application. Information too from Maintenance and LIMS systems can be added to support the Intelatrac Logs.
The applications can be coordinated to work together. For example, Intelatrac information may be used to trigger the addition of a log into the operator's logs. The operator must then enter a reason code for the log and that same log may be automatically copied into the handover report and then sent to a group of key personnel.
The standard logs too are integrated with a base set of modules. For example, the personnel module manages the details relating to the shift personnel and is aware of who is on shift at any one time. This facilitates the ability to escalate issues for example or to message people when required.

Custom Reports and Entry 

The j5 system includes an easy-to-use Reporting Module. Operating personnel can quickly produce custom reports using this module and these custom reports can contain Intelatrac information as well as manually entered data, real time data and data from the MRP II and ERP system.
For more complex reports, (for example, reports containing KPI information,) there is a scripting engine which can be used to calculate complex information based on the various sources of information like the Intelatrac data. These scripting functions can also be scheduled, or can be made to run when an event occurs.

All the forms in the system are field modifiable and new forms may be quickly configured using the j5 Quicklogs framework. This means that special purpose logs may be created to meet specific requirements on the site and of course, these logs may include information from the Intelatrac system.
