Client Session Licenses for Web Server Applications
|
Client Session Licenses: This applies to the Version 4 Logbook, KnowledgeBook, HandoverBook, OrderBook and the web version of jBrowser.
The licenses:
1/ Are floating and enable any authorized user on the network to use the system (I.e. the licenses are not specific to a machine.)
2/ Allow a number of user sessions to be connected at any one time. The application will not allow the number of user sessions to exceed the number of session licenses purchased.

Client Seat Licenses for machine resident programs
|
Client Seat Licenses: This is the same for the client versions of jBrowser, Logbook, OrderBook, HandoverBook and KnowledgeBook
There are two kinds of license:
1/ Trial (usually valid for a period of 30 days.) and
2/ Permanent...You purchase a license which has an unlimited period of validity but which is limited to a specific machine.

Server Licensing
|
Server: (Historian)
The historian license is based on a single machine for a fixed number of tags. Licenses may be upgraded by purchasing incremental packs of tags. The smallest increment is 100 tags, then 500, 5000 and 70,000 tags.) There is no time limit on the server license.

General
|
Upgrades: To upgrade any license or re-register a free version, you must down load a small license file.
License files: Client and Server licenses are stored on a central server. (Both floating and fixed.)

Upgrading databases (from Access to SQLServer or Oracle), or (from SQLServer to Oracle)
|
If you start up say with an Access database and you decide to go to a SQL Server Database (say), then you must first purchase the new system and we will refund you 80% of the price of your existing system. (i.e. You will lose 20% of the value of the system you are discarding.) You must also of course upgrade any support contract that relates to your system.

Refund policy
|
Since we utilize a "try before buy" policy which allows an end user to test the product for at least a 30 day period, and our permanent licenses are non-revocable, we do not provide refunds after a product has been bought and paid for.

Currency Fluctuations
|
The transactions are subject to currency fluctuations over the period of the processing of the transaction (a few days) so your account may be debited with an amount that is slightly different to the dollar figure quoted in the order form. St James Software applies an additional small discount to generally ensure that the currency fluctuations are in your favour.
