jLogBook now has a built in Spell Checker Print E-mail
Rich functionality continues to be added to the jLogBook at a frenetic rate. Or so it would seem. The new just-released jLogBook (web version 4.3.26) now supports on-line spell checking.

Software manager David Fraser was justifiably excited about the new facility. "For a long time now, our customers have been asking for spell checking. They have always said it would be a "nice to have" rather than a "must". However, reading between the lines, we felt that there was a deeper urgency there. Understandably, many operators are reluctant to enter information that might not be perfect. Especially if that information is going to be scrutinized by possibly hundreds of users. And, this reluctance could translate into a potentially serious situation! Now, with the new spell checker, this issue has now been laid to rest!"

Systems Analyst Stephen Emslie was at the front end of development. Stephen explains: "Implementing a spell checker in a totally zero client environment is very different to implementing one in a standalone environment. Additionally, we have the issue that we need to support multiple languages and so needed the facility to support multiple dictionaries and also cater for nonstandard character sets for foreign languages. Finally, we needed to make the user interface simple and functional. We are very happy with the way it has turned out!"

To get the new spell check functionality, you would need to download the latest version from here. You would also need to follow the installation instructions for the spell checker in the latest system administrator manual.
