What is Version 5 and when will it be released? |

he first release of the new version will be addressing the shift reporting functionality of the application. I.e. we have seen the need for a classical shift report type structure to compliment the jlogbook and the new version will make the creation of these type of reports very easy. We expect this first release first quarter, 2006. We are currently creating prototypes of the new system with incredibly good results. The first release will have following features: 1. An end user will be able to create a shift report form by simply creating the layout using a standard html editor,
2. Shift data can be entered directly into the report which will be viewable by any computer connected to the system (without having to load any software),
3. The report will also collate important logs from the logbook and any other database as well as information such as user names, shift numbers etc.,
4. The shift data will also be stored in a queriable database that is automatically created by Version 5. Once the initial release of version 5 is complete, we will use the same technology to create the version 5 of jLogbook. Like the shift reports, this version will be completely free format.
