    The procedures for installing any true Web Server application can be quite daunting. This is because the end user (in addition to loading the web application) must also install and configure a web server application like Apache. That also means that the end user should have a basic idea of how the web server works.

    Not any more....
    St James Software is now offering (in addition to their Apache version) a new true web server Logbook application that can literally be loaded and working within 5 minutes and which doesn't require any special knowledge of the web server at all. Essentially, this is because the web server and all the additional features of the application are now built into the Set Up file.

    While the Apache version of jLogbook is still the best option for sites that want to run 20 or more sessions, the new jServer version is going to make starting up with smaller systems so much easier.

    Marketing manager Nick Hurley sees this as a huge step forward for the Logbook. "The Apache web server is an amazing piece of software that doesn't blink when handling hundreds of simultaneous systems. However, many of our smaller users wanted something that required a minimal of IT expertise and could be installed via a single set up file. With the new jLogbook (with its built in web server ) we have a system that is as easy to install as a standalone application but which will happily drive up to 20 (zero client) computers."
